Fourth and fifth grade small groups had their own MTeams Walls and Notebooks throughout distance learning where they had the opportunity to collaborate with each other on ELA and social studies tasks or begin discussions related to assignments. Some students created shadowboxes for their favorite book read during quarantine, and fourth graders selected books that they'll be diving into as part of summer reading. Students took virtual fieldtrips, as technology allowed, to places we wouldn't normally get to visit during a regular Wildwood fieldtrip. Fourth and fifth graders even continued flexing their writing muscles during distance learning, creating multi-paragraph opinion and comparative essays. All in all, our upper elementary students really stepped up to the challenge of learning virtually from home!
1st Grade Dual Spanish Immersion has been working hard using many of the distance learning strategies and available platforms. My students have recieved a daily reading lesson and one virtual math lesson every week.
Mrs. Schexnayder's Gifted Resource Students have been working hard. They have learned all about dinosaurs, created their own model of a Trex using straws and play dough, dug up fossils, and written their own class book. All of this would not have been possible without a grant from Donors Choose which allowed Mrs. Schexnayder to ship resources for hands on activities directly to her students!
